An extremely rare gooey confection of gorgeousness this outfit released in 1987 and then promptly melted into obscurity. The Meltations consisted of the wonderfully named Helico Van der Ploeg, Andrew Newcombe, Matthew Graham and John Penfold. The single was recorded at Goldsmiths College, London. This rarely appears on ebay and when it does it can sell for over £200. The killer track is the a side and if you wish to hear it visit the Cloudberry records blog where this and other delights await. Like the man in the Milk Tray adverts they deliver their goods under cover of darkness and leave no trace. Who were they?

And So To Bed released one 7" in the mid eighties which has been on my wants list for a few years and turns up on ebay. Happy days until the listing is ended early by the greedy seller. So has anyone got a copy of this elusive single for sale?

These Birmingham boys, or from somewhere near that urban dystopia anyway, can always guarantee a three figure sum for the seller. Sarah Goes Shopping released, as far as I know, just two singles on Crystal Clear records. Where they came from, who they were, these are questions I can't answer. Singer Sarah , let's call her that, utilises her delicate vocals to transport you to a charming land where Trixies Big Red Motorbike sell out gigs at the O2 and Dolly Mixture occupy five of the slots in the top ten of the singles chart. This is what Lily Allen might sound like if she were Woody's daughter rather than the roguish Keith.

Released in 1985 to a torrent of tumbleweed-like indifference Sarah and her consumerist urges parked themselves on the street accompanied by a wicker basket, a paving stone's distance away, as if its presence and function was a profound embarrassment. If you saw her busking outside Woolworths I hoped you dropped a handful of pick n' mix into her basket and then went and bought this four track EP. If you didn't you have no right to listen to this track.

I sometimes think I'm doing Popsike's job here, venerable site though it is there are glaring omissions. Latest news for those who like their punk Welsh is that the Screen Gemz single made another appearance. Despite having its picture cover it barely peeked over the three figure parapet selling for £113. On the previous two occasions their single appeared on ebay it sold for well over £200.

A demo by C86 stalwarts the Siddeleys achieved a respectable £88. I did bid on this but exercised self control. I'm surprised it didn't make three figures. Back in the early 90's I bought their exceptional 12" from a seller advertising in Record Collector for a meagre £7. A bargain.
