EYE ON EBAY

This delicious slice of powerpop by the Various Artists reels in the seller £71. I can vouch for the pedigree of the A side as it appears on the comp Powerpearls 2. They claim there is an extremely rare LP by this Bristol bunch out there somewhere. Let the hunt begin.

Indeed there is an LP. (reissued at some point in Japan I think) I found it in an attic storage area of one of my local shops here in the states. I think they had the 7" too. Traded with a fellow collector in exchange for more indiepop type items. I think he comments here from time to time. I thought I was too poor, and it was too late, to start collecting powerpop rarities. I had seen the prices in the Detour catalogue at that point. That was a good attic. It was my own private store for a few months. Also had the Fast Cars 7" (also traded with said collector...he was so happy!), Suede Crocodiles 7", some Postcard items, early Wake singles. He finally brought most of that stock down to the store, but I had picked it clean at that point. At least of indiepop/powerpop things. Enjoying your record collecting tales....I'm coveting that Commotion Upstairs single....

I'll have to look out for that Japanese reissue. Had a similar record shop experience in Banbury. They had an upstairs where records were left to die. I didn't find any real old powerpop classics but I found several indie gems. I spent four hours investigating all the stock.

There have been few finds of late to equal my discovery of that Commotion Upstairs 7". My local charity shops used to be more generous with such finds. Pickings are slim these days.

We had a great time in the US a couple of years ago, firstly in New York and then in California. Plundered Greenwich Village and Amoeba shops. So many records/CD's we nearly broke our backs.
