EYE ON EBAY-------Release the hounds

Who the hell was Husky? Excited ebayers couldn't restrain themselves from something described as "one of the rarest UK mod/powerpop singles". Really? I have my doubts but others didn't ensuring this pup sold for £430.

Hmmm my bid was about 1/2 the winning price -I didn't expect to win but that's a lot of money on something you may not know (generally Jim's descriptions are spot on though)

I was hoping, probably expecting, you'd know what this was. Not in 45Revs though it was released in 1978 according to the seller.

It certainly is rare, we only pressed about 500. My name is Andy Richardson and I was the singer on this single. Jerry Kelk (the guitarist), and I have had a flurry of contact from collectors following this auction and having traced it back to Ebay we are a little uncomfortable about what is claimed. Husky was an East Kent pop band in the late 70's. We made this single ourselves to sell at gigs and to promote the band - i would not describe it as power pop although I suppose that is purely subjective. We were not in any sense a "mod" band and the single was not "released" as such. MHA was the studio where it was recorded and to my knowledge no other tracks came out on that label. If you want to pay large amounts of money for a self-released single by an obscure local pop band feel free, but be aware of what you are buying. Andy Richardson and Jerry Kelk, June 15th 2010

Thanks Andrew. I treated this single with suspicion, just didn't seem like a lost powerpop classic to me. But maybe it's a lost pop classic?
